Sayyad is an experienced and accomplished Barrister-at-Law, called to the Mauritian Bar since January 2009, with over a decade of experience as a lecturer at several universities, teaching subjects such as Company Law, Administrative Law, Human Rights Law, Banking and Financial Services Law, Administration and Law of Trusts, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). He passionately provides effective, easy to implement and practical legal advice, and frequently conducts training sessions on Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT).
Sayyad has strong expertise in supporting V&A teams with acquisitions and takeovers, assessing and managing legal risks associated with structuring, negotiation, and close of complex transactions. As a broadly experienced director on legal entities in different countries and managing their governance, he has a deep understanding of local regulatory compliance and frequently supports businesses in developing compliance programs and initiatives that are tailored to their unique needs.
Expert in transactional matters, Sayyad regularly advises on employment matters including recruitment, employee performance management, and discipline. He frequently leads sensitive corporate investigations and is well-versed in developing legally compliant guidelines, processes, policies, toolkits, and packaged knowledge capital that reflect best practices in the industry.
Sayyad has led for over 10 years the geographic legal function as Director of Legal Services for Mauritius and abroad, and provided strategic legal advice to senior business leadership, collaborated with cross-functional teams, and managed legal professionals across different jurisdictions to facilitate the execution of business strategies.
